Biographical Note: Sven Paulin (1926-2014), Dr. med., 1951, University of Mainz, Mainz, Germany; Med. Lic, 1958, Karolinska Institute of Medicine and Surgery (now Karolinska Institute), Stockholm, Sweden; Medicine Doktor (Ph.D. equivalent), 1965, University of Gothenburg, Gothenburg, Sweden, was Radiologist-in-Chief at Beth Israel Hospital (now Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center), Boston, Massachusetts, from 1970 to 1994; appointed Professor of Radiology at Harvard Medical School, Boston, Massachusetts (HMS) in 1970; and was the first Miriam H. Stoneman Professor of Radiology at HMS from 1983 to 1993 (Emeritus, 1994 to 2014). He served as President of the Society for Cardiac Angiography, 1981 to 1982, and President of the North American Society for Cardiac Radiology, 1983 to 1984. Paulin contributed to the development of cardiothoracic imaging technologies in the second half of the twentieth century, beginning with his 1963 doctoral thesis, “Coronary Angiography – A Technical, Anatomic and Clinical Study."

Scope and Content: The collection consists of records generated by Sven Paulin during his career in cardiac radiology, including professional correspondence; films, slides, and x-rays used in teaching; writings and lectures; grants files; grey literature; annotated reprints; electronic media; audio/visual materials; photographs; and books.

Extent: 30 cubic feet in 30 records center cartons and 0.0887 gigabytes on network storage.
