Abstract

Large wooden brown model of bones of the wrist and finger. Wrist model displays the eight carpal bones: hamate, capitate, trapezoid, trapezium, pisiform, triquetrum, lunate, and scaphoid. Finger model is in three parts. The eight wrist bones are held together with wooden pegs and metal screws. There is one hole on top of wrist model with no peg or screw.

Provenance

These wrist and finger models were used as teaching aids at Harvard Medical School throughout the twentieth, and possibly late nineteenth, century. In November 2013, the Program for Medical Education at Harvard Medical School transferred these models, along with several Dwight-Emerton models, to the Warren Anatomical Museum.
