Charles A. Eastman, MD, graduated from the Boston University School of Medicine in 1889. He was among the first Native Americans to earn a medical degree in the United States. Dr. Eastman is known as one of the first Native American historians, founded thirty-two Native American chapters of the Young Men's Christian Association and helped to found the Boy Scouts of America.
