Description

Angiogram of a female with Tetralogy of Fallot congenital lesion and subclavian Blalock-Taussig anastomosis. The original cine film was digitized, and a redacted electronic copy was created to remove the patient's name and patient number.

The recording was described in Paulin's teaching film inventory with the following annotation: "Tetralogy + left subcl Blalock-Taussig anastomosis. Also plain films available. LV injections RAO & LAO show shunt in membranonous[sic] portion of septum. RV injection - subvalvular stenosis. Aortogram-Blalock-T anastomisis[sic] left subclavian. Coronaries normal, no abnormality of RCA."

Paulin's colleague, Julian Max Aroesty, commented during an acquisitions interview (2015 May 21) that "tetralogy" is a congenital lesion; "Blalock-Taussig" is named in part for Helen Taussig; and "Aortogram-Blalock-T" is an early form of palliation, at a time when complete repair could not be done.
