This is the 1869 reprint of Dr. Harlow's 1868 speech,  Recovery from the Passage of an Iron Bar Through the Head, given at the Massachusetts Medical Society. The speech is a twenty year follow up after Harlow's inital speech about the Phineas Gage case. Additional facts about Gage's medical recovery and post-accident life is provided throughout the text.
