Alice Hamilton was the first woman appointed to the faculty at Harvard University, and founder of occupational medicine. M.D. University of Michigan, 1893. Studied pathology and bacteriology at the Universities of Leipzig and Munich, Germany, 1895-96. Pathology faculty Women's Medical College of Northwestern University, 1902-10. Medical investigator Illinois Occupational Disease Commission, 1910-21. Assistant Professor HMS and HSPH, 1920-1935.
