In 1969, Dr. Folkman was sent to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia for six months of intensive training in pediatric surgery under Surgeon-in-Chief Dr. C. Everett Koop (1916-2013), who later became the United States Surgeon General. During training, Folkman served as Chief Resident in Pediatric Surgery and is pictured here with Children's Hospital of Philadelphia surgical residents.
