Provenance

Parkman Professor of Anatomy Oliver Wendell Holmes started the bone box loan program at Harvard Medical School in 1881. This specific bones box, described as from an adolescent male, likely dated from this early era of the program. Unfortunately the inventory records of HMS bone boxes numbers are unreliable, and the age ascribed to individuals is questionable as well.
