Maxwell Finland, circa 1960s

An active fundraiser on behalf of Harvard Medical School, Finland raised more than eight million dollars in endowment for various chairs, including those named for William Bosworth Castle, Frank Mallory, and Charles S. Davidson. In 1968, Harvard Medical School established the Maxwell Finland Professorship of Clinical Pharmacology. Harvard also honored him with an annual lecture in his name. In 1979, Boston City Hospital rededicated its facility for the study of infectious disease as the Maxwell Finland Laboratory of Infectious Diseases.
