Abstract

Rectangular plastic-covered cardboard box of research cigarettes from the University of Kentucky. Box is pale green with blue and white stripes and contains eight sealed packs of cigarettes. Each pack is blue with white and blue stripes and wrapped in plastic. Cigarettes were used in the research of Melvin W. First, ScD.

Provenance

This box of research cigarettes was created for the University of Kentucky in 1974. The cigarettes were used in the research of Melvin W. First, ScD. at the Harvard School of Public Health. Stephen Rudnick was a doctoral student working with First on the program in the mid 1970s, and the cigarettes remained in his possession until he donated them to the Warren Anatomical Museum in 2013.
