Ear, nose and throat diagnostic set enclosed in wooden case with black cloth covering. Case interior is brown-orange baize. The case closes with a sliver metal clasp in front. Kit contains one silver metal otoscope, one black metal ophthalmoscope, four black plastic speculums, two replacement light bulbs, and one silver metal power handle with textured grip.

WAM 20450 was owned and used by Harvard Medical School physician Janet M. McArthur. It was purchased at Wocher's Surgical Instruments in Cincinnati, Ohio, most likely when McArthur was an intern and resident at Cincinnati General Hospital between 1942-1945. WAM 20450 was in McArthur's possession until her death on 10/06/2006. Papers and materials including WAM 20450 from McArthur's estate were bequeathed into the Center for the History of Medicine's Archives for Women in Medicine (AWM) on 09/02/2009. WAM 20450 was transferred from AWM into the Warren Museum on 06/07/2010.
